Artist Biography:

Jamie Brinker (she/her/hers) is a printmaker and painter from Cleveland, Ohio. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Cleveland Institute of Art. Her work explores social critique of misogynistic behaviors through humor and anthropomorphism. In Brinker’s recent body of work, Favorite Child: Four Legs and an Attitude, she paints and prints images of dogs getting into mischief with speech icons. These speech icons contain overlapping phrases that contradict each other. Brinker examines how everyday relationships and cultural attitudes shape our understanding of gender, power, and identity, drawing from family experiences and contemporary life.
